Icelandic Rafting Bay of Fundy Tide & GOURMET EXPERIENCE
We have found a rafting experience unlike any other.
Canada has many gems, including the spectacular Bay of Fundy, which is home to a world-famous tidal bore. The Bay of Fundy Tide is special in that, twice a day the tide changes and the bore temporarily reverses the flow of the river.
This natural phenomenon creates the perfect environment for an epic outdoor adventure.
DETAILS OF THIS EXPERIENCE
Prepare to have your senses awakened by one of the most unique adventures Nova Scotia offers. Our Rafting Bay of Fundy Tide experience allows you to raft the highest tide in the world! This adventure is so unique, it defines rafting. When ‘rafting’ is mentioned, most people immediately think ‘paddles, rocks, going downstream, waves crashing’ and although this experience has waves, it doesn’t include rocks and or paddles.
The Rafting Bay of Fundy Tide experience begins with a laid-back cruise around the Shubenacadie River where you will get to see seabirds and bald eagles soaring above, nesting ashore, or fishing for their next meal. You will ride the waves until the water begins to decrease as it feeds the Bay of Fundy, exposing the titanium-rich river-bed floor. Once the water ‘drains out’, your guide will take you and the group to a private sandbar in the middle of the river!
There will be a stunning picnic table set up in preparation for your gourmet seafood lunch, accompanied by the area’s finest local wines appropriately named ‘Tidal Bay’.
Once lunch is over, you will take a break to walk around the river’s floor, this is when you will get to see the river transform before your very own eyes. You will see how the river’s flow reverses and begins to fill up with 160 billion tons of water! This is enough water to fill the Grand Canyon twice! Imagine, one moment you’re walking around a coppery clay-like river bed and the next you’re watching it fill with billions of tons of water…talk about a metamorphosis!
Next is when the real adrenaline infused adventure begins. Once lunch is over and the river is full, you will all load onto our rafts and begin the three-hour tidal bore trip. You will ride as the bore reverses the flow of the water creating huge waves…remember to hold on tight! Then you will get the opportunity to channel your inner child, as the waves subside and the river bed begins to show itself again, while you play in the mud! Slip n’ slide anyone?
But, the Rafting Bay of Fundy Tide excitement doesn’t end there. The experience continues with a relaxed ride back to your cottage where you will be able to relax and freshen up before heading to dinner. And believe us, this isn’t just any old dinner. The night-time meal consists of a traditional Nova Scotia lobster boil with East Coast music, followed by an exclusive fireside local rum and wine tasting.
Join us and you will enjoy all this plus spend the night in a rustic and comfortable cottage by the river.
You will get to explore the area and gain exclusive access to the trails located within the 180-acre private property.
WHY IS THIS A
The Rafting Bay of Fundy Tide experience is not only different than most rafting excursions because it allows you to raft on the ‘Shubie’ River, which has the highest tide in the world! This experience also grants you access into the wonderful world of Nova Scotia’s locals, complete with lobster boils and insight into the region’s wine and rum culture.
