Now that we’re a week into the New Year we’d like to address something that never fails. The same thing occurs every year, people around the world countdown the final seconds of December 31st with a sense of hope. Everyone does it, we enter the New Year with goals of losing weight, gaining muscle, visiting exotic destinations, finding love, getting that promotion etc. and the truth is…travel enthusiasts are no different. Many travellers create a bucket list of ‘must-see’ locations, cliffs to jump off, mountains to climb, or beaches to visit. We applaud and stand behind all adventures and resolutions and would even like to offer some of our own. Continue to reading to find the Wildthentic list of our Top 5 Travel Resolutions for 2018.

1. Plan More.

We know, we know, planning does not come easy to all. Some people are planners and some aren’t but it is for this reason that you should force yourself to get organized. Ironically enough, planning ahead reduces stress and gives the traveller more confidence towards their next upcoming trip.

The hardest part of almost any task is getting started. Therefore doing research, planning ahead, and asking around gives the traveller a sense of ease and reminds them that they are in control! The world is your oyster!

2. Go somewhere you’ve never been before. Better yet, go somewhere you’ve always dreamed of going!

This one is pretty self explanatory, right? But as most things in life, easier than done! That’s what planning is for.

Travel resolutions can also become bucket list activities and this is a perfect example of that. Have you ever wanted to travel around South America? See the Arctic? Or maybe visit Africa? Well, what are you waiting for? 2018 is your year. Don’t wait. Life is short and sweet…devour it.

3. Spend some quality time with Nature.

Let’s face it, hiking isn’t for everyone and luckily it doesn’t have to be. There are tons of different ways to enjoy nature. You can go, hiking, kayaking, climbing, running, or just walk. Nature’s sights, sounds, colors, and sensations will astound you. We say that you allow yourself to be awed this year. Open yourself up to new experiences in the great outdoors and if you try something you don’t like, move onto something else. Try camping or skiing or star gazing, the point is our time is limited and we should always try to do our best with what we’ve got. 2018 is the year we reconnect to our surroundings.

4. No list of Travel Resolutions is complete without a solo trip.

This isn’t the first (nor will it be the last) time we give this advice. We’ve even written about solo travel before. Leave fear aside, kick it to the curb, or just throw it in the trash because 2018 is all about reconnecting with everything that is important.

We’ve already discussed reconnecting with nature but now we want you to reconnect with yourself. Remember to step out of your comfort zone and take at least one solo trip this year. Trust us, you won’t regret it.

5. Go see the Northern Lights!

Seriously, go see the Northern Lights. We even have a whole article entitled Why You Should Go See the Northern Lights at Some Point in Your Life. The most spectacular light show known to man, aka the Aurora Borealis should not be missed. You owe it to yourself.
