It is a unique place not only in Greenland but also in the World, due to its proximity to the Kangia Fjord. When directly translated from Kalaallisut the word Ilulissat literally means “Icebergs”. Which is why it is not too surprising that Ilulissat’s Icefjord was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2004. This means that it is a is a place of special cultural or physical significance. Ilulissat is a privileged enclave for nature lovers in search of new sensations.

The fjord generates up to 20 million tons of ice every day, which become gigantic icebergs of more than 100 meters above sea level. Here you can behold the one of the largest glaciers in the Sermeq Kujalleq. You can also participate in the most authentic expeditions, which will take you to the remains of the most ancient Inuit villages. The landscapes are incredible; you can witness them on snowmobiles or while trekking on a snow-shoe hike. This Greenland town is a unique experience on its own.
